Wojciech Szczesny says he wants Arsenal to win the Premier League title this season but fears it will make him look like an idiot.
The goalkeeper left the Emirates in the summer for a season-long loan with Roma after losing his place to David Ospina and following the arrival of Petr Cech at the Emirates.
However, the 25-year-old is keen for the Gunners to taste glory this season although he admits it will hurt to see them lift the title without him.
"I watch all Arsenal games, of course," he told the Polish national team’s official YouTube channel.
"And I hope they will be champions, honestly. I spoke to Theo Walcott yesterday and told him they have to win it, but it’s going to make me look like some kind of idiot!
"They never won it when I was there and now, 'Oh look, Szczesny is gone so it’s obvious what the problem was'.
"I’m joking, but maybe it’s true after all. I was there for four seasons, there were other goalkeepers before me and they didn’t win the title either.
