An Ikeja Magistrate court on Monday remanded one Abdullah Idrish at Kirikiri prison, for allegedly stealing a bottle of beer valued at N250. The 25-year-old tiler, who resides at number 24, Ogunbambi Street, Dopemu in Lagos State, was charged with stealing. Police Persecutor, Inspector Idowu Onime, had earlier told the court that the accused took one bottle of beer while it was been offloaded from a carton into a shop on January 23 at 36, Adebisi Awosoga Street, Dopemu.
Onime said, "It was someone, who saw him drinking the beer, that alerted one of the staff and he was apprehended". The offence, he said, was contrary to section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused pleaded guilty to the charge. The Magistrate, Miss A. R. Onilogbo, ordered that the suspect be remanded in Kirikiri prison and adjourned the case till February 10th for sentencing.
