Transfer news: Spotlight on the £5m defensive midfielder on the brink of joining the Gunners


The transfer window is fast approaching,and the news is fast flying in.Wecan tell you that Arsenal are on the brink of finalizing a deal to sign defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel, according to widespread reports in the Sunday newspapers.
The Egyptian international is expected to complete a £5m move in January and will be the sole Gunners’ acquisition in the upcoming transfer window.
Despite Elneny’s imminent arrival, Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama still remains very much part of Arsenal’s summer plans.

Elneny is viewed as more than just a short-term fix for the sidelined Francis Coquelin, with the Egyptian far more adept going forward than his French counterpart.
