Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes has departed the club for Standard Liege on a six-month loan deal, the Premier League outfit have confirmed.
The Spain international, 34, had announced on Thursday that he would be leaving Louis van Gaal's team via social media, but now the Old Trafford outfit have now made official the deal, which brings to a close a difficult spell with a side he joined in October 2014.
Valdes arrived on a free transfer following his decision to leave Barcelona at the end of the previous campaign, which was complicated by a serious knee injury. However, he made only two appearances for the Red Devils and grew increasingly frustrated with his role on the sidelines.
