Nigerian breaks 349 years history. Appointed Chief Judge in New Jersey



History was made on Wednesday January 6th, 2016 when a Nigerian Jude.O.Nkama became the first African to be appointed as judge in the 349 years history of the city of Newark,New Jersey in USA.

Also appointed were Hon. Ugochukwu Nwaokoro as Deputy Mayor, Mr. Jude Obasi Nkama Esq, as Judge and Mr. Evans Anyanwu Esq as Chief Prosecutor of the city. 




The appointment was made by Hon. Ras Baraka, who is the Mayor of the City of Newark, New Jersey   

Jude.O.Nkama becomes one of the only 3 African-born judges in the whole of USA, including Judge Oliver Mbamara of New York State. Also the city of Newark becomes the only city in the U.S with such high level appointments of Africans in top positions.

You would recall that recently President Barack Obama, appointed a Nigerian-American, Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo, as his Deputy National Security Adviser for International Economic Affairs.
