Tragedy: Mr Azi who was appionted chairman on thursday and kidnapped on friday dies in auto crash on saturday along with his kidnappers



Six people suspected to be kidnappers have abducted and killed the newly appointed transition committee chairman of Jos East Local Government Area, Plateau State. Mr. Hosea Azi was kidnapped on Friday evening along Miango road, in Kufang, near former NYSC Secretariat in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.


Mr. Hosea Azi, died yesterday in a ghastly along motor accident alongside his kidnappers near Keffi, along Abuja road as his abductors were escaping with him.

The politician died with four of the six people who abducted him after the car in which they were driving him away got involved in an accident in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Family said two of the suspects, who suffered serious injuries in the accident, confessed to the crime while receiving treatment in an unnamed hospital in Keffi.

The late Mr. Azi was appointed the transition committee chairman of Jos East on Thursday, following the removal of his predecessor, Sanda Agwom, by Governor Simon Lalong.

Mr. Hosea Azi was arrested alongside the present Governor of Plateau State Mr. Simon Lalong in 2006, by the EFCC when the Governor was Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly. The Present Governor of Plateau State and the deceased, Mr. Hosea Azi were arrested for stealing from the coffers of Plateau State.

Azi was sworn in as the transition committee chairman of Jos East on Thursday by Governor Simon Lalong after he sacked Mr. Sanda Agwom Daura. The sacked council boss was one of those drafted last July to oversee Jos East LGA after the Governor dissolved the 17 council executives in the state
