A lecturer at the Rivers State owned Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Dr. Ebirien Fubara and his son, have been killed by unknown gunmen.
Fubara was on secondment to the Rivers State Electoral Commission, RSIEC.
This is as the lecturer’s wife’s brother, Okwudiri, who was in the house when the hoodlums struck, is said to be in critical condition as at the time of filing the report.
The incident occurred at about 2a.m, at their residence along Peter Odili Road, Port Harcourt, even as the cause of the killings could not be ascertained.
A source close to the bereaved family said the hoodlums used hammer, iron and rod to attack the victims.
According to the source who did not want his name in print, the late Fubara’s son died instantly, while Fabura and Okwudili were rushed to the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital, BMSH.
Fubara was said to have passed on shortly and his corpse deposited at the Military Hospital, Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
Meanwhile, the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education community has condemned the gruesome murder of Fubara and his son, and called on security agencies to investigate the killing.
Registrar of the School, Ikem Adiele, who confirmed the incident to newsmen appealed to security agencies to fish out the killers’ and ensure they face justice.
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ahmad Mohammad could not confirm the incident as at press time.
